Work Visas

We got our work visas yesterday. That means we can now officially live here and can do LOTS of things. Such as get Gene a phone (VERY BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT), get 1/2 price train cards, get local credit cards, driver's licenses, etc. Basically, we can live like normal people here now.

So, we went IMMEDIATELY to the local Swisscom store to get Gene a phone. He got the new "James Bond" phone. They wouldn't let him have it yesterday...we think they had to "verify" he was truly eligible for a contract...but we're not really sure. They didn't speak much English and we still don't speak hardly any French yet. They said come back tomorrow. He was really disappointed. So, we went back today. He got his phone. (everyone jump up and down and yell for him) We finally got home to the apartment. He can't read anything on it (because it is in German) to get it set-up. So, we pull out the computer and translate everything. Thankfully, we finally get it started and the first question it asks is what language do you want and luckily, it had English!!!!! :) I was going to laugh if he had to use it in German the entire time we are here. That would be our luck so far. So, now he's setting it all up and it has tons of James Bond things on it. He's super happy. And, now it means that Gene and I can talk to each other when I'm traveling. Which, will be nice. :)
