Owen's Prayer Flag

Carly Marie started Day of Hope on August 19, 2008.  A day of speaking about the babies who are no longer here with us and a day of hope.  To quote Carly (as she says it perfectly) "For us to break the silence surrounding the death of babies and children, society needs to accept that it is okay to talk about them.  The ones who never came home from hospital, the ones who only stayed for the shortest of times.  The ones that were never held and for many of us, the ones we yearn just to conceive.  It is okay for families to mourn publicly, we should not have to cry behind closed doors.  We should feel free to speak about these babies and children.  It is okay to celebrate and honour these precious human beings that are no longer with us.  They are not an awkward topic, they are much-loved, wanted and missed family members." 

As part of this day, she also started making prayer flags for her son, Christian.  Last year she had people from around the world mail her the prayer flags they made for their children and she took pictures/video of the flags in Australia.  This year, she just asked everyone to make their own and take photos or video of them.
