Puppy Love

This post today on Stillborn and Still Breathing really resonated with me.  Buttercup has been a great help in our healing.  The first night we were home from the hospital after having Owen, she was still at my sister's house...just Gene and I.  We realized that night how quiet it was without her and how strange it was her not being there with us.  They brought her back over the next evening.  That night after they left and it was just the 3 of us again...it was better...if you could call it that.

She made us get up in the mornings because she needed to go out.  She made us get out of the house to go out with her or to go for walks.  She made us play with her and smile at times.  She knew when to curl up with us and just be.  She knew when to curl up on my lap when I was sad and crying.  She just knew and was there for us.

We've taken two trips away since and have left her with my sister's family.  We realized on those trips how much we missed her and how much an important part of our lives she has become.  She's not just a dog to us...she's family.  :)  Our Princess Buttercup.
