Day 3 of movers

Wow! They are slow and taking as much time as possible today and they even added a 5th guy. All they had to do was empty everything from the apartment in to the small truck, drive the truck down the hill, lift the truck gate and move it all to the container. I think they were definitely wanting to make sure it took the whole day; although, I know they could have been done by noon or shortly after. They took about a 2 hour lunch break and then came back just to load up the cave, which took them all about 30 minutes to do (which is way more than they needed with 5 people). Then took a smoke break. Then they drove down the hill to move the stuff from the truck to the container. That took more than 30 minutes this time. Finally about 3 pm, they finished, but then realized they had not taken the washing machine/dryer out...they were supposed to take it to the ADM offices and leave it there. It was finally done at 3:20ish. They are quite lazy here. And, so much for trying to get to the Lausanne commune (since it closes at 4:30) to finish up our admin stuff we had to do with moving towns and heading back to the US. Frustrating!

Gene and I spent most of the time cleaning the apartment before the professional cleaners get here tomorrow. We were told we needed to do that. Although, we aren't sure why exactly. The Swiss are big perfectionists on cleaning apartments and it needs to be signed off on by the landlord or they will hold your deposit until you either pay them to get it back to the original state or just keep some of it. It's a bit crazy. But, that's why work pays for the professional cleaners to come here. Whatever!!

But, today could not have been a more perfect day!! :) The weather, while a bit cold for me, was gorgeous. Bright, clear and sunshiney!! Beautiful views of the lake and mountains. We took a lot more pictures just to remember it and add to the hundreds we've taken from our balcony or inside the house already. We'll definitely miss that when we get back to flat Illinois, which has it's own beauty...just different.

While it was sad to say goodbye to this apartment that we've called home for a few days shy of 3 years, it definitely was a lot easier to leave this time around than it was leaving from the US. Partly because we aren't technically leaving Switzerland yet and partly because we somewhat know what we are going home to...at least the family, friends, life, culture, language, surroundings, stores and more.

Au revoir St-Prex!! We'll miss you but thanks for the great memories!!! :)
