Disney and Paris

At the beginning of August, we went to the greatest place on earth...in Europe at least. :) Disneyland Paris! I wanted to go to Paris in nice weather...sometime not in December or February, which were bitter cold. We left on a Thursday night. We finally stayed at a nice hotel in Paris. I used points from my many nights in Hamburg at the Hyatt to get ourselves a nice, free room for the weekend! Somewhere, where there wasn't any flashing lights outside the hotel or had to prop a chair in front of the door.

Friday, we spent the entire day at Disney! We first went to their version of MGM. We walked around a bit to see what was there and then started our day. We went to the French version of Armaggedon, then to see Stitch Live. After that, we hit the long line for Crush's Ride - from Finding Nemo. It was an awesome roller coaster. But, when we got done it was pouring buckets!!!! We walked to the Toy Story Playland in the rain while everyone was huddled under whatever they could. We luckily had umbrellas. :) We then headed over to the Disney park.

Disney was quite nice - loved the castle! It was great weather when we got over there, too. We grabbed some late lunch and then explored this park. We hit many rides here. First was Space Mountain - that about did us in for roller coasters. Had horrible headaches all around. Did the Star Wars ride, Snow White, Buzz Lightyear and possibly more - it's been a few months. We went to watch the parade - it was late getting started - not up to the Swiss standards on time. While we were waiting...it poured again!!!! Even more than the first time. So much for Paris in good weather. After the parade, we went to Downtown Disney and ate dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe. Not the best food...we've hit 2 of them in Europe and they just don't have it down like the US. We went back to the park to watch the night parade and fireworks - again timing just not good. It was a long day, but still it was fun to be there!!

On Saturday, we hit all the key spots in Paris and found some great oil paintings! We went to see the Eiffel Tower (GREAT weather while we were here!!!), Louvre area (didn't go in again), Museum d'Orange - where they had Claude Monet Waterlilly paintings that were quite awesome, Notre Dame Cathedral, the big square at the other end of Champs de Elysses that I can't remember the name of and walked around quite a bit. Sunday was nice and relaxing before we headed back home. :)
