It's been about a year ago, when we heard that some of our long-time, greatest friends in the world were facing a nightmare in their lives.  These are no ordinary friends...they had a big role in getting Gene and I together way back when (that's a whole 'nother story).  So, when I heard the news, I sat and cried my eyes out.  Their youngest child, Matthew - he was not even 1 yet, had gone to the hospital for dehydration.  Thanks to an extra caring nurse that pushed the doctor to do some extra testing, they ended up finding out their son had a possible brain tumor.  About a year later, he and his wonderful mother have spent pretty much the last year in St. Louis, where he had surgery to remove the tumor, received his chemo treatments, stem cell therapy and so much more.  He's now cancer free as of Valentine's Day this year, but the fight is far from over and they still have not identified the cancer he had (still being tested by John Hopkins).  Beth and Matthew continue to live in STL at a RMC apartment.  I can't even imagine how their family has managed the last year, other than living on a prayer, family and friends.  Their two older kids seem to be managing and living the crazy life they have just to support their younger brother.  They are all amazing...we love you Grupe family! :)

You can find their full story, follow and support them on their facebook page called, Matthew Grupe "CanDo" It...Pray Loud and Hard!
